What is Mahjong Ways 2?
Mahjong Ways 2 is a high-volatility slot game developed by PG Soft (Pocket Games Soft), one of Asia's top mobile-first game studios. Released as the sequel to the wildly popular original Mahjong Ways, this game has become a favorite among Filipino slot players for its explosive multiplier mechanics, stunning visual design inspired by traditional Chinese mahjong tiles, and the potential for massive payouts exceeding 5,000× your base bet.
At vvph Casino, Mahjong Ways 2 is one of our most-played titles. Filipino players love the game's mix of familiar cultural aesthetics — the mahjong tiles, the golden Chinese dragons, the lucky coin symbols — combined with modern slot mechanics like cascading reels, wild multipliers, and free spin bonuses. Whether you are spinning for fun on a ₱1 bet or chasing big wins at ₱100 per spin, Mahjong Ways 2 delivers an adrenaline-packed experience you won't find in traditional three-reel slots.
This game runs on a 6-reel, variable-row layout with up to 46,656 ways to win when fully expanded. The RTP (return to player) sits at a competitive 96.50%, which means over the long run, the game pays back ₱96.50 for every ₱100 wagered. However, as a high-volatility slot, wins come less frequently but tend to be larger when they hit — perfect for players who enjoy the thrill of chasing jackpot-sized payouts rather than grinding small, steady returns.
Why Filipino Players Choose Mahjong Ways 2 at vvph
Mahjong Ways 2 resonates deeply with Filipino casino culture. Mahjong itself is a familiar game across the Philippines — played in homes from Quezon City to Cebu, often during holidays and family gatherings. PG Soft took that cultural familiarity and transformed it into a modern video slot that feels both nostalgic and cutting-edge. The game's symbols include bamboo tiles, red character tiles, golden dragons, and lucky coins — all visually polished with vibrant colors and smooth animations that look stunning on both desktop and mobile screens.
At vvph, we host Mahjong Ways 2 alongside hundreds of other top slots, but this title consistently ranks in our top five most-played games. Filipino players appreciate that the game is optimized for mobile play (critical in a mobile-first market like the Philippines), supports bets starting as low as ₱1 (accessible for casual players), and scales up to ₱500 per spin for high rollers. The game also integrates seamlessly with our GCash and Maya deposit systems — fund your vvph wallet in under a minute, and you are spinning Mahjong Ways 2 reels within seconds.
Fun Fact: Mahjong Ways 2 holds the record for the largest single-spin payout in vvph history — a player from Manila hit a ₱4.8 million jackpot on a ₱250 spin during a free spins bonus round in late 2025. That win is still being talked about in Filipino online casino communities.

Key Features of Mahjong Ways 2
What makes this PG Soft slot a Filipino favorite — from multipliers to free spins
Cascading Reels (Tumble Mechanic)
After every winning combination, the winning symbols disappear and new tiles tumble down from above to fill the empty spaces. This creates chain reactions — one spin can trigger multiple consecutive wins, each with the potential to increase your multiplier. Cascades continue until no new winning combinations form.
Wild Multipliers (×2, ×3, ×5, ×10)
Wild symbols substitute for all regular symbols and come with built-in multipliers of ×2, ×3, ×5, or even ×10. When multiple wilds appear in a single winning combination, their multipliers multiply each other — for example, two ×5 wilds result in a ×25 multiplier on that win. This is where the game's massive payout potential comes from.
Free Spins Bonus Round
Land 4 or more golden scatter symbols anywhere on the reels to trigger the free spins feature. You start with a base number of free spins (typically 10-15) and an ever-increasing win multiplier that never resets during the bonus round. Every cascade increases the multiplier by +1, and there is no upper limit — multipliers can climb into the hundreds during a hot free spins session. This is the feature that produces the 5,000× max win.
Buy Feature Option
For players who do not want to wait for scatter symbols to trigger the free spins naturally, Mahjong Ways 2 offers a "Buy Feature" option. Pay a fixed price (typically 100× your base bet) to instantly enter the free spins bonus round. At vvph, this feature is available but not required — patient players can spin naturally and trigger bonuses organically.
Mobile-First Design
PG Soft built Mahjong Ways 2 as a mobile-first game, meaning it was designed from the ground up to work flawlessly on smartphones and tablets. At vvph, over 75% of our Filipino players access Mahjong Ways 2 from mobile devices — the touch controls are responsive, the graphics are optimized for smaller screens, and the game loads in under 3 seconds even on slower 4G connections common in provincial areas.

Tips for Playing Mahjong Ways 2 at vvph
Smart bankroll management and strategy advice from experienced Filipino slot players
Start Small, Scale Smartly
Mahjong Ways 2 is a high-volatility game — it can go 50+ spins without a significant win, then hit a massive payout on spin 51. Start with small bets (₱1–₱5) to feel out the game's rhythm. Once you hit a good streak or trigger free spins, consider raising your bet for the next session. Never chase losses with bets you cannot afford.
Understand Volatility
High volatility means longer dry spells between big wins. Do not expect consistent, frequent payouts like you would in low-volatility games. Budget accordingly — set a session bankroll (e.g., ₱500) and be prepared for it to fluctuate wildly. The game rewards patience and disciplined bankroll management.
Free Spins Are the Goal
The majority of big wins on Mahjong Ways 2 come from the free spins bonus round, not base game spins. Your primary objective is to trigger free spins by landing 4+ scatter symbols. Once inside the bonus, the unlimited multiplier is where life-changing payouts happen. Be patient during the base game — the real action is in the bonus.
Consider the Buy Feature Carefully
The Buy Feature costs 100× your base bet and instantly triggers free spins. If you are betting ₱10 per spin, buying the feature costs ₱1,000. This guarantees you reach the bonus round, but it does not guarantee a profitable bonus. Use this feature only if you have a comfortable bankroll and understand the risk — it can pay off huge or drain your balance quickly.
Set Win & Loss Limits
Before you start a session, decide on a win target (e.g., "I'll stop if I double my ₱500 bankroll") and a loss limit (e.g., "I'll quit if I lose ₱500"). Stick to these limits. High-volatility slots can swing wildly — walking away when you are ahead is how you lock in profits instead of giving them back.
Play on Mobile for Convenience
Mahjong Ways 2 is optimized for mobile, and at vvph, mobile gameplay is seamless. Play during your commute in Manila traffic, during lunch break in Makati, or relaxing at home in Cebu. The game loads fast, uses minimal data, and the touch controls are responsive. No need to sit at a desktop — bring the casino with you.
Responsible Gaming Reminder: Mahjong Ways 2 is entertainment, not a way to make money. Set limits, play within your means, and never gamble with money you cannot afford to lose. If gambling is causing you stress, visit our Responsible Gaming page for support resources. vvph is committed to safe, responsible play for all Filipino players aged 21 and above.
